RACISM, THE WORLD & THE BIBLE: Part 4: One Race

***This is part 4 of a 6 part blog series on Racism, the World & the Bible***

ONE RACE

ONE RACE – We are all really just one race; that one race is the human race. Black lives, White lives, Native American lives, Asian lives, Arab lives, Jewish lives, ALL LIVES MATTER! All humans on earth are descendant from Adam and Eve. (Genesis 3:20 – And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.) All humans on earth are descendant from Noah and his family. (Genesis 7:13 – In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark; & Genesis 9:1 – And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.) All races, ethnicity’s and people groups first separated into distinct groups at the tower of Babel (Genesis 11:7-8 – Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.) – Skin color in God’s eyes does not change the way He thinks of you. He loves all of mankind. He loved us first and wants us to accept His son as our Savior and to live eternally with Him. (John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.)

We all have the same basic brown pigment in our skin that determines the color of our skin. The amount of this pigment is genetically determined. After the scattering at the Tower of Babel, different groups of people carrying with them different sets of genes for different characteristics and skin tones separated and became isolated from each other. This allowed for the different ethnicity’s around the world to develop.

Adam and Eve possessed a mixture of all the varying skin tones you see today. Most likely they looked like a mixture of all these skin colors because they possessed within their genetic code all the varying skin tones. Caucasians, Africans, Asians, Indians, Arabs, and Jews are not really different races exactly; instead, they are different ethnicity’s of the same human race. All human beings have the same basic physical characteristics. So it is not a person’s skin color that makes them who they are. Their skin color should in no way cause racist or prejudice treatment toward them. We are all children of Adam and Eve. We are all created in the image of God. We are all sinners in need of a Savior. We are all equally and sacrificially loved by the Savior who came and lived among us, was mistreated, beaten, whipped, mocked, falsely accused and judged. He was hung on a cross to die, all because we needed a substitute payment for our sin debt. He came and shed his blood and died for all sinners, the prejudiced and non prejudiced, the racist and non racist; Jesus loves all and died for all of mankind’s sins on the cross of Calvary. (John 3:17-18 – For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.)

Today we see many people wanting to divide themselves into separate groups just solely based on their skin color. They will judge others just based on their skin color. They will have preconceived ideas about others just based on their skin color. They will treat others differently just based on their skin color. They do all of this and actually believe they are justified in doing so. Whether it is a white person having this attitude, or a black person having this attitude or any other ethnicity having this attitude; it is an anti-God attitude, a sinful, shameful attitude to have. We need to respect all people equally regardless of their skin color, or other physical characteristics. Jesus came for all, not just one particular color of people. We are all God’s children. The Bible teaches to treat all men equally. We should judge others based on the kind of person they are not based on skin color. Martin Luther King Jr. spoke of this when he said “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” The thought of equality of all men is enshrined in one of our founding documents,  “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” – Declaration of Independence.  And finally we will close this thought with what the Bible says about for who Jesus died for. “And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.” II Corinthians 5:15. We are all one race, the human race, we are all equal before God, all lives matter equally to God.
